This week, the Timbabuild Super Tough Epoxy Wood Repair System was granted the A+ rating (the safest rating available) for Volatile Organic Content, additionally LEED® certification.
The VOC rating is a pre-requisite for chemical products sold principally in France but also all over Europe. We expect many other European nations to follow suit respectively.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) measured by European standards, are organic chemicals that have a high vapour pressure at ordinary, room-temperature conditions. This causes vapour to evaporate into the surrounding air. Some VOC's may cause long-term human health complications or harm to the environment.
VOC tested independently
Timbabuild resins have been independently tested and granted the least harmful classification of A+.
Reducing VOC's
Reducing the concentration of VOC's indoors and outdoors is an important environmental goal and one which Chemfix takes very seriously. Legislation in Europe and for specific countries is tightening up on VOC's and so we are pleased to be currently ranking with the safest rating currently obtainable.
France and Germany are two countries which have regulations controlling VOC emissions from commercial and industrial products. A French regulation was published on 25 March 2011 with details published on 13 May 2011 regarding a mandatory labelling of construction products installed indoors, floor and wall coverings, paints and lacquers with their emission classes based on emission testing. From September 1st 2013 products sold must have the appropriate VOC labelling.
