Founding of Briolf Group, consisting of 5 companies from the speciality chemicals sector

With headquarters in Girona, the new industrial group brings together more than 50 years of experience and expects to exceed 125 million euros in turnover this year.

Briolf Group is the name of the new industrial group made up of five long-established companies in the specialty chemicals sector. This business group from Girona is the result of the drive and expansion of the family business Roberlo, located in Riudellots de la Selva, and it has emerged to take top positions on a European scale both for its turnover and for its degree of diversification and international presence.

The Briolf Group brings together more than 50 years of experience in the sector, a team of more than 800 members around the world and a commercial presence in more than 120 countries. Made up of more than 20 enterprises, the group sets out with good economic perspectives that exceed 125 million euros of consolidated turnover in 2019, representing an increase of 15% over the previous year.

In this sense, the Briolf Group stands out for its track record in the specialty chemicals sector with a wide presence in multiple fields such as automotive, industry, anchoring and aerosols.

Other than Roberlo – a company dedicated to the development, manufacture and sale of paints and repair solutions for the refinishing of automobiles and industrial sectors, with 12 subsidiaries and an export share in excess of 80% – all the companies involved in this project are highly specialized in offering solutions for the world of paints, coatings or adhesives. Specifically, the companies are Montana Colors, a Catalan company that is a world leader in the production of aerosol paint for the street art sector, as well as products for fine arts and the wide world of creativity; Chemfix, located in the United Kingdom and specializing in the production of chemical anchoring; Cromaresme, dedicated to the production of paint for application on plastic and glass with facilities in Dosrius; and Dexia System, a paint distribution company based in Girona with a strong presence in a large part of Catalonia, Andorra and the south of France.

People. Passion. Chemistry.

People, passion and chemistry. These three concepts are the main pillars of this group which has established itself as a family of companies, respecting different business cultures through close coordination between each of the companies and management structures of the group. "The change of mindset that is involved in transforming family businesses into a global business group is undoubtedly one of the main challenges we have managed to successfully overcome," says Jaume Juher, president of the Briolf Group.

At the same time, the aim of the alliance is to promote and generate more collaborations between the firms' lines of business, with a clear desire to diversify the sectors. "This not only enriches us and enables us to be present in various markets with high added value, but also provides us with greater economic stability in the long term, regardless of the economic cycle," assures Juher.

Family spirit, international vision

A business alliance where every voice is important – respecting the different organizational cultures of each firm as much as possible – which is committed to innovation and seeks to maintain the values shared with employees, customers and partners.

By way of example, internationalization is a key factor within the new business group, which already has 15 companies abroad and more than 40% of the workforce outside Spain. "We have a vision of international growth, maintaining a spirit of family, proximity and involvement with the territory of each of the companies within the group", notes Juher.

As far as future prospects are concerned, the figures reached during the first months of 2019 confirm the positive trend detected at the beginning of the year. The intention of the group is to maintain the growth levels achieved so far and, together with some new acquisitions in strategic fields, to rank among the top 15 European business groups in the sector within the next 5 years.
