EPD – Environmental Product Declarations for Chemical Anchors
Chemfix now has an EPD certificate for each of its Chemical Anchoring products. These EPD certificates are now available on request.
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized document that transparently communicates the environmental impact of a product or material throughout its entire lifecycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life, based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).Â
- What it is:Â Â An EPD is a type of environmental label that provides data on the environmental performance of a product or service.Â
- How it’s created:Â Â EPDs are based on Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), which evaluate the environmental impacts of a product across its entire lifecycle, from raw material extraction to disposal.Â
- What it covers:Â Â EPDs typically cover aspects like resource consumption, air emissions, waste management, and embodied carbon.Â
- Why it matters:Â Â EPDs help stakeholders, including designers, builders, and consumers, make informed decisions about product selection and contribute to more sustainable practices.Â
- Standards:Â Â EPDs are developed according to international standards, such as ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
- Benefits:
- Transparency:Â EPDs offer transparent information about a product’s environmental impact.Â
- Comparison:Â They allow for easy comparison of different products within the same category.Â
- Sustainability:Â They support the selection of more sustainable products and materials.Â
- Informed decision-making:Â They help stakeholders make informed choices that contribute to a more sustainable built environment.Â
- Â
- Examples of EPDs in the building industry: EPDs are commonly used in the construction industry to assess the environmental performance of building materials and products.Â
