 Car Body Filler

Car Body Filler is a two part polyester based filler consisting of a polyester paste with a Benzoyl Peroxide hardener. When cured, Car Body Filler forms a strong hard mass which exhibits excellent abrasion resistance along with durability, flexibility and formability. The finished surface will accept all normal paints and is not damaged by the temperatures used in the cure of low bake stoving systems.

Preparation

To achieve the maximum performance from Car Body Filler, it is essential that all substrates are sound, clean, dry and free from surface contaminants such as oil or grease.

Metallic Substrates

Metallic substrates should be prepared as follows :-

  • a) Remove all existing coatings, corrosion products and general grime by mechanically abrading, shot blasting or wire brushing back to white metal.
  • b) Cracks or splits should be opened up and gvhed to ensure total penetration.
  • c) Areas contaminated with oil or grease require solvent degreasing by either immersion or wiping with a lint free cloth dampened with the preferred solvent system

Mixing
To mix Car Body Filler, transfer the desired amount of paste to a suitable mixing board and add the corresponding amount of Speedset Hardener and thoroughly mix to an even smooth streak free appearance. As the Car Body Filler cures rapidly, it is recommended only an amount usable within the working life is mixed at a time.

When mixing a ratio of 100 parts to 2 parts Speedset by weight should be maintained.

i.e. Golf ball size of filler to 4 Inches of hardener.

Application
By knife or spatula

When building up repairs or filling holes it is recommended that the Car Body Filler be applied onto a reinforcing surface. If a void is to be bridged especially on a system under pressure a suitable backing plate must be fixed across the void prior to filling.
